The short answer to your question, is an absolute yes.

The long answer is, not if you are strictly concentrated about money.

With blogging, the way you make money, is either through a few different ways:

1. Yahoo Publisher Network or any other ad network where ads are displayed on your website. Every time someone clicks on your website, your blog generates revenue.

2. Promoting Products - If you have your own product, or if you want to push a related product to your blog's topic there are plenty of "affiliate" networks out there that have promotional offers that you can push on your blog and make a percentage "commission" of each sale.

3. Sell adspace. This only works if you have a provable amount of visits and in a large amount as well.

But getting back to the point of not concerning the money making part. Let's say you are blogging about your topic, and you are worrying more about making the money off of your blog, the core focus of your blog gets shifted off.

People will notice that and wil be irritated and probably will not return to your blog. Remember that your core focus should be the topic at hand, and not neccessarily the products and ads your site has. They should be a side item more or less.

Once you build that authority and style of writing, and gain followers and readers, then you should start "soft suggestion" of any items that monetize your blog.
